I asked a simple question and got some useful answers (as far I remember) but then I saw that the question is locked:

Strange, but since MS closes the Windows Marketplace for WM6.x soon I thought it is OK. But it is not OK in my view to completely remove the question (getting a 404 when trying to open it)
Some days ago I got my Fantec MM-FHDL Multimedia Player. It offers NAS and FTP support. Beside the playable video/audio formats NAS support was one of the reasons why I bought that device.
Of course it works fine under Windows XP Professional SP3:
But having troubles under Vista. Depending how I try to open the IP address I am getting different results.
Via Vista Start Menu (0x80070035: “The network path was not found.”):
Btw: As long the above dialog is open, you can’t use the Start Menu ^^. This dialog disables the Start Menu! This isn’t very smart in my view. So it was a bit difficult to start Paint.NET in order to get the screen-shot. But this is another story.
But when using Vista’s File Explorer (0x80004005: “Unspecified error.”): 
I assume that Samba/NAS is still supported by Fista (aka Vista)!?
Via FTP (using FileZilla) I am able to access the device under Vista:
But FTP is only a workaround for this nasty Fista problem. I’d just like to use File Explorer!
Ideas how to solve the Fista / NAS / Samba problem are welcome! Btw, a Virtual PC using XP on my Fista machine is no option ;-)

Benötigt keine Resourcen. Sehr genügsam, dieser aXbo ...
Vor sehr, sehr langer Zeit habe ich die "alte aXbo" Software auf meinem "alten" XP Professional Laptop installiert. Da hat eigentlich alles, beim ersten Mal funktioniert.
Die "neue Software":
OK, "digitale Signatur" ... Nun ja, als stolzer Besitzer einer Bürgerkarte ... Na, egal, schon genug "durchgemacht" mit dem Zeug .... Vertraue ich mal ....
OK, Treiber hat sich installieren lassen. Kein Muh oder Mäh am Ende, also auch keine Fehlermeldung.

Ok, habe ich eigentlich erwartet, da XP kein Muh oder Mäh von sich gegeben hat, als ich den aXbo angesteckt habe.
Im Device Manager nix davon, also manuelle Installation:
3x kommt der nette Dialog .... Warum!?
Danach:
Kaum zu glauben, oder!? Na ja, die Meldung erscheint zwar, funktioniert aber trotzdem nicht!!

NIX DA, vom aXbo ... So langsam fängt es wirklich zu nerven an, vor allem, wenn man bedenkt, die teuer dieser "Wecker" ist ...
Was nun alles neu sein soll, frage ich mich jedoch schon (Beispiel einer .inf-Datei):

Es ist wohl offensichtlich, dass dieses Mal M$, Windows bzw. Vista nicht das Problem ist. aXbo up2date V116.zip (75MB) installiert. Da muss man schon eine Menge an Nerven mitbringen. 75MB!? HALLOOOOO? Man braucht keine 64bit Zeug auf einem 32bit OS installieren. Hunderte von .CAB-Dateien, die kein Schwein braucht! Na egal, eine halbe Stunde späte das Zeug installiert. Ein Otto-Normalverbraucher mag vieles hinnehmen, aber der bin ich in diesem Fall nicht. Wenn ich mir das "Setup" so ansehe, habe ich den Eindruck, da hat ein Ferialpraktikant mal was "probiert" ... Qualitätssicherung kann es da nicht gegeben haben!
Auch unter Vista Ultimate geht NICHTS. Es erscheint auch nach manueller Installation nichts im Device Manager.
OK, jetzt reichts mir!
Ich bin mehr als verärgert. Ein schweineteurer Wecker und dann so eine mieses Software/Treiber-Paket!
